WHAT DOES NC BIOTECH FUND?

NCBiotech’s Science and Technology Development research grant funding programs are designed to advance promising scientific discoveries and technologies developed in N.C. towards commercialization. These grants fill critical funding gaps in stages where it is typically difficult to secure funding.

FLASH GRANTS

Micro grants for short, focused research projects that disrupt technology concepts or advance basic life sciences research into translational phases, fostering innovation too early for traditional funding. $20K maximum.

TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH GRANTS

Funding for projects exploring commercial applications or initiating early commercial development of university-held life sciences inventions. The technology must have the potential to solve a real-world problem as a commercial product in the life sciences sector. $100K maxmium.

INNOVATION IMPACT GRANT (IIG)

Supports the purchase of shared-use research equipment for core facilities at academic or nonprofit institutions that foster innovation within North Carolina’s life sciences ecosystem. $150K maximum.
