Duke staff, faculty and retirees are invited to celebrate Duke’s first 100 years at the Duke Centennial Spring Reception from 11 a.m.-noon on Thursday, May 16.

The event, which is free and open to all Duke staff, faculty and retirees in Penn Pavilion, is organized by Duke Human Resources and will feature a welcome from Vice President of Duke Human Resources Antwan Lofton. Guests can enjoy an assortment of refreshments, live jazz performed by the Jeff Decker Band and a commemorative gift while supplies last.

“Duke is a leader in education, research and patient care in large part because of the efforts of its dedicated and talented staff and faculty,” said Duke Vice President for Human Resources Antwan Lofton. “As we celebrate Duke’s first century, it’s important that we pause and honor the work of our staff and faculty, both past and present, for helping build Duke into a world-class institution.”

The Duke Office for Translation & Commercialization will display its exhibit highlighting the creativity of the Duke community. Entitled Duke is Inventive: A Century of Innovation at Duke University, the traveling exhibition explores the breakthroughs, products and companies that have their roots at Duke.

The reception is one of many Centennial events unfolding at Duke during 2024.
