The TOVER is non-standardized assessment of expressive language in context and verbal reasoning. The 64 item test was specifically designed to assess language function in children and adults with Down syndrome across a broad range of functional ability. The test uses pictures to stimulate verbal responses to questions. The test is short (completed in 15 minutes) and fast paced (2-4 questions per picture). The TOVER has been used as an efficacy measure in clinical trials with adolescent subjects with Down syndrome. Test-retest reliability is high (r= .95). Contact Dennis W. Thomas, PhD, for details (919.681.7580 or dennis.thomas@duke.edu).
