About
Carlos Pignataro (He/Him/His) is a Mentor in Residence (MIR) with Duke New Ventures, in the Office for Translation & Commercialization. He has built a 25+ year career driven by a passion and curiosity for innovation, strategic thinking, and tech-for-good, and he brings his experience and expertise building technology businesses. Carlos has held various technology and executive roles at Cisco. Most recently, he was Head of Technology and Data for Cisco’s Engineering Sustainability, and previously held roles of Distinguished Engineer and CTO for the multi-billion-dollar Services Global Service Provider and CX businesses. He currently serves as a Board member at Code the Dream, and at the NC Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED). Carlos is a HITEC 100 awardee, a Fellow at the National Academy of Inventors, Stevie's Tech Innovator of the Year and Information Technology Executive of the Year, Fast Company's Innovative Leader of the Year, co-founder of the International Society of Service Innovation Professionals, recipient of several of industry awards including the IEEE Communications Society Industrial Innovation Award 2019, and he spreads the wealth, serving as adjunct faculty at North Carolina State University. He is also co-inventor of over 280 patents issued with the USPTO. Originally from Argentina, Carlos lives in North Carolina, US, enjoys volunteering and traveling, and values humor and connecting with people.
