The right side has an orange Invented at Duke logo, and text stating ‘TRANSLATION & COMMERCIALIZATION 6th Annual INVENTED AT DUKE Celebration Wed 11/20/2024 | 4:30 to 7PM | Penn Pavilion’ followed by highlights of the event including inventor booths, featured resources, food & drink, and a free RSVP QR code in the bottom right corner.

Duke’s Office for Translation & Commercialization would like to invite you to the 6th Invented at Duke, a special Centennial edition of the annual celebration and showcase of Duke inventors and inventions.

This year, we will be holding it on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, 4:30-7PM, at the beautiful Penn Pavilion on Duke campus.

WE HAVE TOPPED OUT OUR PRE-REGISTRATIONS. Walk ups will still be accepted but we will focus on letting in pre-registrants for the first 10-15 minutes of the event.

We’ll have remarks from President Price, head of OTC Robin Rasor, and our featured speaker beginning at 5:30PM. We’ve invited the U.S. Commissioner of Food and Drugs, Dr. Robert M. Califf to be our featured speaker this year.

In his second stint as head of the U.S. Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA), Dr. Califf steers an organization of more than 18,000 employees that ensures the safety and effectiveness of human and veterinary medicines, biologics, and medical devices, as well as regulates the safety of food, cosmetics, devices that emit radiation, and tobacco products.

Dr. Califf is a Duke legend, a champion of translational medicine while a practicing cardiologist, as well as the Founding Director of the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees, as well as his cardiology fellowship, at Duke University.

Beyond our featured remarks, there will be featured inventors with booths, drinks and hors d’oeuvres, gifts for Duke inventors who register and attend, and more. You will see innovations and companies that have not only been started by Duke faculty and students, but have also been supported through funding and mentoring by a variety of Duke translational funds, incubators, and more.

This year, Duke is also celebrating its Centennial year – so our celebrations this year will have an extra flair, including a historical exhibit highlighting A Century of Innovation at Duke University.

Whether you’re already part of the Duke entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem or you’re just starting to explore how to bring your research out to the public – or perhaps you’re a member of the wider Triangle technology commercialization ecosystem – there will be something to learn and celebrate. We hope to see you there!
