Workshop Description:

Dr. Strum will share his experiences building G1 Therapeutics and Incyclix Bio, two biotech companies in Research Triangle Park, NC. He’ll discuss taking an idea from conception to NDA touching on scientific rigor, intellectual property, fundraising, building productive teams and managing success and failure.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Jay Strum is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Incyclix Bio, a venture-backed biotech company located in Research Triangle Park, NC. Prior to joining Incyclix Bio, Dr. Strum was the founding Chief Scientific Officer at G1 Therapeutics where he also served as President and Director. He is the co-inventor of trilaciclib, the first in class CDK4/6 inhibitor for mitigation of chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression and lerociclib, an oral CDK4/6 inhibitor currently in Phase 2 clinical trials. He is also the inventor of INX-315, an oral, potent and selective CDK2 inhibitor in Phase 1 clinical trials. Prior to G1, Dr. Strum was a Director at GSK where he led efforts in translating scientific discoveries into improved therapies across multiple therapeutic areas. He has co-authored 48 scientific publications and is an inventor on 40 issued US patents, eleven of which are FDA Orange book patents (Approved Drug Products with Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations) and more than 350 patents worldwide. Dr. Strum received his PhD in Biochemistry from Wake Forest University and completed his postgraduate training in Molecular Cancer Biology at Duke University.
